“The Seductive Dance of the Medusa”

In this blog i wanted to post an idea i had for a short story, i've always wanted to write
a novel or something about ancient Greece, i know i would need a good proof reader and
editor but i just wanted to throw out this rough idea for a short story about one of my fav
topics, the Medusa. In my version i went for a more sexy look for her.......

“The Seductive Dance of the Medusa”

In this small secluded olive grove, surrounded by the Hot Gates,
a sultry silhouette is outlined in the moonlight, her body swaying to an
eerie hymn of pipe flutes and hissing snakes. Her ample bosom and
full hips dancing hypnotically in the crisp greek night air. The acolytes
of the Medusa surrounded her in a semi circle as she calls on the gods to
fulfill her destiny, for in this dark, wet ground, a new army shall arise....
For it is well known the gaze of the Medusa can turn any living creature
into cold, unmoving stone, but there is also a dark secret known only to the
Medusa cult that her very same gaze can also turn the dead into living,
moving stone.
Suddenly the very ground began to tremble and shake, huge clouds of
smoke and hot steam hissed from the opening cracks, then all as one,
crawling forth from the very pass in which they died, an unholy army of greek
hoplites arose from their graves. Their bronze armor, shields, even their very
skin, now cold, unbreakable stone. Before the Medusa, now stands 300 stone
spartans, an unbeatable hellish army of death, the Medusa their only
master now......”My, my, my, what fun I shall have with my new playthings,
for now all of greece shall tremble before my new army of stone and I
shall have my revenge”, laughing hysterically the stitches around her neck
twitching, her reattached head not yet fully healed.
Slowly the undead greek phalanx marches down from the the pass of
Thermopylae and into lower Greece, bathed in the laughter of the gorgon.

Recent digital design of the Medusa by Earl Ferguson

In Greek mythology, Medusa ,"guardian, protectress" was a gorgon, a chthonic female monster; gazing directly upon her would turn onlookers to stone. She was beheaded by the hero Perseus, who thereafter used her head as a weapon until giving it to the goddess Athena to place on her shield.
WOW, as i kid i remember watching the Medusa in the original version of "Clash of the Titans". I believe that's what got me started on my love of mythology and the ancient history of greece, the Medusa has been portrayed in numerous movies over the years, one of my other favorite versions of the Medusa was in "Medusa vs the Son of Hercules". In this version she is portrayed more like a huge alien with tentacles, pretty cool stuff.

Uma Thurman did an awesome job as the Medusa in the movie, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010)

One of coolest versions is in the 1964 Hammer Film, The Gorgon.  In the early 20th century, a Gorgon takes human form and terrorizes a small European village by turning its citizens to stone.

"Gaze upon the eyes of the Gorgon". This print was inspired by the Medusa portrayed
in the movie, "Clash of the Titans".  I really enjoyed the newest version of "Clash of the Titans" al-
though i didn't think the newer cgi version was nearly as creepy as the one from my childhood.
In my imagekind store i have quite a few prints inspired from ancient greece, so if you ever have
some free time, please pop in and check em out

This cool print is actually a negative of me wearing a spartan helmet with some
photoshop effects added to it
