DOCTOR BANG

In this blog post i wanted to talk about one of the best artists working in comics right now, my brother, Lyndal Ferguson and his very own superhero creation, Doctor Bang. Over the years
Lyndal has worked for numerous publications such as Heavy Metal, Revolutionary Comics,
Rip Off Press, Virus Comix, Black Cat 13, Girls and Corpses, Heavy Metal Monsters and tons
of others.
His vivid imagination and use of color pencils are on a whole different level, and when it comes
to the "cool" factor, every inch of his illustrations are small slices of pop art heaven. His style
is truly original in every sense of the word. He is so far ahead of the curve it may be years before his work is truly appreciated the way it should be. I'm one of his biggest fans, and if hollywood
has already sucked the comicbook world dry, his stuff could fill a movie screen with such imagination and wonders that would make other hero films seem as dry as wallpaper.

DOCTOR BANG , the Head Hunter From Hell , and his graveyard groupie , DEAD BABY , returns in BLOKE'S TOMB OF HORROR # 666 to take on the world's sickest , sexiest serial killer NURSE HATCHET !!! ( VIRUS COMIX ) — with Mary Madcox.

Here is the link to Lyndal's facebook page, friend him, you can even poke him but check out
all his wonderful work...

Doctor Bang is a monster hunter, called "The Headhunter From Hell" by his supernatural adversaries. He is assisted in his adventures by Dead Baby, the ghost of a murdered stripper.

These stories have appeared in my brother's comic "DOCTOR BANG AND HIS BIG GUNS" (published by Rip Off Press), in Scott Jackson's "BLACK CAT 13" comic and in "BLOKE'S TOMB OF HORROR # 666" (published by Virus Comix), featuring Lyndal's friend and collaborator, Nurse Hatchet.

Earl Ferguson, Hot Rod Artist

SHADE TREE CAR CLUB

STREET DREAMS AUTO REPAIR

I guess every artist has certain things they don't enjoy drawing, for me it was always cars, i had more fun drawing superheros and portraits. Don't get me wrong, i've always loved muscle cars and junk, my first car was a mustang, it's just i never really liked drawing em. Being involved in screenprinting over the years though, alot of people wanted their race cars and stuff printed on shirts. And i do have to admit some of my best designs have been old hot rods and race cars. So, if you have any certain things you don't really enjoy drawing, take it from me, try it anyway and you just might realize anything can be fun to draw if you just put forth your best effort

Yogi Berra and Me

One of the coolest trends i've noticed online is alot of the sports comics i worked on, people have gotten the athletes to sign the covers over the years. Alot of sites have been selling them online, when i drew this cover originally i never really thought about Yogi Berra actually signing it, how freakin' awesome is that. Here is the link to a site that is selling this great collectible, i have no idea if it's even still for sell though, sorry

1993 Yogi Berra Signed / Autographed Baseball Legends Comic Book - Yankees

1993 Yogi Berra Signed / Autographed Baseball Legends Comic Book, Printed by Revolutionary Comics. Yogi Boldly Signed the front cover in blue sharpie across his shoulder. The comic is in NM condition. The cover is firmly attached to the spine by its original staples. The Interior pages are, very clean, stiff and white, there are no rips, tears, or pen marks.

Here on the same site i found the Johnny Bench cover i drew that is also signed.

The Story of Rock-N-Roll Comics

In this special post i wanted to plug the new documentary available on dvd, The Story of Rock-N-Roll Comics, this was the first comic book company i worked for a few years back and they specialized in unauthorized biographies, I did quite a few covers for them over the years and at the time, they were hugely popular and cutting edge.

The Story Of Rock N Roll Comics

The Story of Rock N Roll Comics charts the short and controversial life of publisher Todd Loren, whose scandalous series of unauthorized comic book biographies of rock stars enraged and sometimes charmed his subjects, provoked numerous lawsuit threats from the likes of Bon Jovi, Guns N Roses and Skid Row, and eventually led to a landmark First Amendment case, all before he was savagely murdered in 1992.

This documentary mixes animation and eerie home video of Todd Loren along with interviews and commentary that reflect the range of opinions regarding his cultural legacy - Including first hand accounts from many of the artists and writers who were inspired and exploited by Loren, all peppered with insights from both the Rock & Roll and comic book communities from such luminaries as Alice Cooper, Gary Groth, Ian Shirley, Mojo Nixon and more.

The fine folks at Wild Eye Releasing did an awesome job on the graphics and packaging on this amazing dvd. Please click on the link below and get yours today......

GENE SIMMONS WEARING MY ARTWORK

One of the coolest things i got to do while working for Revolutionary Comics back in the day was design the logo for Hard Rock Comics, it was published on all their covers which was cool, but one day i was watching mtv and there was my childhood idol, Gene Simmons wearing our Hard Rock Comics logo t-shirt, man, i work in screenprinting and have designed thousands of t-shirt designs but that was the highlight of my career.
Wow, i want to just say i think Kiss is the greatest rock band ever, when i grew up before the internet, dvds and stuff like that, if you ever got the chance to actually see Kiss on tv, now that was a treat, one of my favorite memories was on the Paul Lynde's Halloween Special when he introduced them, killer show. So for me to have the demon wearing something i drew it was really special to me, he also wore it in videos and photos that promoted Kiss Alive III.

I've included some pics of gene wearing the shirt and also a picture i drew of him last year, it's just a quick marker sketch done while i was watching tv one night.

This was an old ad that was in all their comics selling the Hard Rock Comics T-shirt....

This was one of the Revolutionary Comics  Booths used at comic conventions and stuff....

In closing i just wanted to thank Kiss for all the great music and for all the fun and enjoyment i've had over the years listening to their music and watching their videos.

WHERE DOES CLIPART COME FROM?

While you're online searching for just the right piece of clipart to set your presentation off do you ever wonder where does it actually come from, i mean it's always there, no one really draws it, right? it's clipart.
Well, actually there's a few companies out there that hire artists to produce collections of clipart for them to sell on their websites, the fine folks at Digital Art Solutions hired me to produce clipart for one of their volumes of clipart, Sports & Mascots 2.
It was really cool to design clipart for them because over the years i use to use their "Smart Designs"
collections all the time. If you work in screenprinting or something and you ever need good, quality
clipart you should definitely give Digital Arts Solutions a peek. Here is their link included below and a few examples of some of the clipart i've produced for them.....
